Hi guys! I’m Leigh! I write the mommy lifestyle blog, Laughing Latte! I’m so excited to be over here sharing my Mommy Daughter date ideas! With practically being a stay at home mom, I am always spending time with my daughter. But it’s not always that quality one-on-one time. We get in our routine. Sometimes we cook together, sometimes she plays while I do a little work, sometimes we play together, and sometimes we mop the floors together (yes she has her own Swiffer), but it all gets categorized into this staying-at-home, daily, routine. Mommy daughter dates are the perfect way to shift this so that we both thoroughly enjoy some time together doing something we both love, separate our whirlwind of ‘everyday,’ and make her feel like the special little girl that she is. I don’t like to spend a lot of money on dates, I just don’t think that it is necessary in order to have fun while spending quality time together. And I really don’t see how she is going to love something like a museum right now, more than just going for a walk down the drive way. More like a run… Seriously, it gives me a heart attack every time! And then there are the big outings like the pumpkin patch visit we did last month, but we like to save those for family dates when Daddy can join! This girl is a cutie! I’d go broke if we spent lots of money on little dates! Instead, I look at dates as Mommy Daughter time. Time when just the two of us are not worrying about what else we have to do that day, but are just spending time together and doing something we both enjoy. These are a few of our favorite budget friendly mommy daughter dates that we love! 1. Menchie’s. I don’t think it’s a secret that we love our ice cream around here, but we usually just indulge on our couch with a pint at night in front of the TV. Anabelle chooses the person she thinks would most likely share the most with her and pops a squat on their lap. So a couple weeks ago Anabelle and I needed out of the house, we threw on our coats and I took her out for some frozen yogurt! Menchie’s is great because they charge based on weight. Anabelle and I weren’t going to eat a whole pint here, so we taste tested a few flavors, picked a couple and then $2 later, we had a little afternoon treat to share! And some cute spoons to take home too 😉 2. Playing in the leaves! I don’t think she’s going to be able to do this much longer, but she just loves anything outside. She always has. Right now our yard is covered in leaves, so instead of finding a playground, we’ve just been stomping around our yard! And when Mommy actually follows her around the yard for playtime, instead of watching from the porch, it’s extra special! You should see her crunch those leaves and roll around and turn to me laughing. It’s pretty much the sweetest! 3. Coffee shop. Our favorite coffee shop right now is Red Tree Cafe, so for us this means a little field trip down town! As it starts getting colder outside, this little cafe is wonderful! It has a unique and cozy atmosphere with an ever changing art gallery, the tastiest soups around, and a little stash of puzzles and toys for Anabelle! If we are lucky we can grab the cozy little couch corner and relax in a little area where Anabelle can really enjoy the toys and run around the coffee table. We can share a lunch, or I can grab a latte, and we both can live a little in our happy place together! 4. Target. Ok, did you not see that one coming? This is probably the most reoccurring ‘date.’ It could fall into a shopping category, but I am always looking for an excuse to wander around there with Anabelle. Example: All I need are paper towels. Yeah I could wait till I run to Kroger to get some with the rest of my groceries… But no, the perfect reason to go mosey around Target! Anabelle always loves it too! (Seriously, I thought about putting grocery shopping with her on this list, because I actually look forward to shopping with her, giving her samples, and letting her hold our groceries before tossing them to the back of the cart herself. She loves it! And it makes grocery shopping for me more fun!) Anyways, Target. It’s not our serious shopping. It is our worry free zone where we just get to mosey around and enjoy some time with each other. We wheel around the entire store just window shopping in women’s clothes, kids toys, the candy aisle, home decor… You get the picture! 5. Making breakfast together. This is a little at home date, but those are some of our favorites around here. Her Daddy and I love them ourselves as well. Usually I just whip up some scrambled eggs or pull out a banana for her breakfast, but it’s extra special when we actually make something together! Right now she is in this stage where she loves to sit on the counter so she can see exactly what I am doing, and she’s even getting into the stage where she tries to help. It’s so sweet, and she takes full pride in the results! Dinner is too hectic for me to categorize as a date, but breakfast… There’s just something about that morning light, her well rested smile, those little helping hands, and her pride as she eats our concoction that totally separate this date from the rest of the day. I hope you all enjoy some wonderful fall dates with your littles! Feel free to hop on over to my blog or instagram to follow along on some more of our adventures!
