We’ve teamed up with Ele Story today for a fun list of TEN rainy day activities and a couple little surprises at the end you’re not going to want to miss.
Isn’t the saying “April showers bring May flowers”? Because I don’t know about y’all but apparently Idaho didn’t get the memo. It’s been raining on and off the last week, in fact right now I am listening to the thunder outside as I type this. And don’t get me wrong–I love the rain sometimes, but after awhile it gets a little old, especially when you have littles running around that need to get outside (or a crazy puppy in my case)! So don’t you fret, if it’s been raining where you are or if you just need inside activities–we’ve got a great list for you.
Mommy/Baby Bake Day.
This is probably my favorite, because well it involves food. Judge me 😉 But seriously, grab your little(s) and get your bake on! Make cookies, brownies, let them help and make it a blast!
Find the object.
This is a good one, especially for those busy little babes. I remember playing this when I was a kid. You pick an object (like a spoon, toy, etc.) and hide it somewhere around the house, then they have to find it! Once they find it, play it again or grab a snack!
Picnic in the House
Do you see a pattern? Food. Food. Food. Oops! But seriously, a good lunch picnic in the house is the best! Make fun little sandwiches, grab the juice boxes and get ready for the perfect picnic! Use blankets for the floor, build a fort and if you really want to get into it put on some nature sounds like you’re outside!
I’m always down for a good dance party, in fact I’m pretty sure baby Blake already knows that and she’s still in my belly. Make it really official, turn the lights off, get a strobe light going on your phone and put on your best dance outfit. Then get that party started! Need a playlist, don’t you fret–we’ve got you covered, here.
Grab a bag of popcorn, or make your own with this recipe from Simply Recipes, here. Then pile up all of the pillows and blankets you have on the floor in front of your TV and pop in your or your kids’ favorite movie! — Moms get in on this action too, this is break time for you as well!
Cardboard Box Play
I know y’all have heard the joke of how kids love the box their toy came in more than the actual toy, well–it’s true 9 times out of 10! Ha! So Rainy days obviously call for grabbing that cardboard box out of your garage and getting creative. Make a car, a house, whatever you can think of! Those babes of yours will love it.
Get out and Jump, Jump, Jump around!
It’s raining–so duh, grab those rain boots, rain coat (which you can grab an adorable one, here from Ele Story) and get outside! Play in the puddles and have tons of fun in the rain! Then take a warm bubble bath and relax the rest of the day!
What better day than to get your artistic side out? Grab the crayons, markers, paint, glue, whatever art supplies you have around the house and get creative! Need a good art project idea, we shared one here about a month back!
I’m all about a good book, and the thing is–why can’t your littles be the same?! They might not last all day, but this is a good activity to keep busy for a bit. Grab a stack of their favorite books, a snack, and cozy up in a chair to chow down on some yummy foods and read a good story! Plus, this is the perfect time for some Mom or Dad snuggles 😉
Look out the Window.
This may sound like a lame one, but I remember loving it when I was a kid. Cozy up in front of the window and watch the rain fall outside, watch the puddles get bigger and enjoy the relaxation!
