One thing that was important to me for Blake was her taking a bottle even though we breastfed. Mainly because I wanted Marcus to be able to have the chance to connect with her during feeding time, to create that bond. Also because well let’s face it, I wanted a little help during the nights too 😉
We’ve tried a few different bottles and she seems to do pretty good with most of them, but there’s one in particular that has really stood out and that she LOVES! Dr. Brown’s option bottles. By far her favorite. Dr. Browns option bottles are convertible meaning you can remove the vent system or keep it! Plus, here’s my favorite part, they fit most breast pumps! Can I get a HOLLA?! That means I can pump, then put the bottle part on and we’re ready to go! No dumping or messiness! Plus she takes right to these without a second thought and best of all goes right back to breastfeeding in between!
I was so worried that if she loved her bottle she wouldn’t breastfeed anymore, however that’s not the case at all! I still use a nipple shield which might be part of it. Hopefully not, but either way I’ll take it! I’ve learned that you take the good things and just be thankful. Don’t stress or worry about the what ifs or I shouldn’ts. They’re a waste of time!
Moral of the story, this has been a blessing in our lives. Different things work for different people and situations, but Blake taking a bottle has given us more flexibility and has given Daddy bonding time and Mama a little break some nights!
What have you Mamas done to take some of the load off? How do the Daddy’s in your help or get bonding time? Tell us in the comments by clicking the add comment button at the top of this post!

I don’t really get a break because I am exclusively nursing, but I am planning on a date night soon! My husband helps with everything from cleaning the kitchen to cooking dinner to playing with the kids. We are such a great team, I couldn’t do it without him.
