Dear Blake,
My sweet girl, first off I want you to know how much you are loved by so many people, how much happiness you bring to me and your Daddy and how big of an impact you’re making in all the lives around you. You’re the happiest little baby, you hate to sleep, but you hold your own and you know what you want. You’re only 6 months old as I write this, but your personality is shining through brightly and I can’t wait to watch you grow into a beautiful young women. (though let’s not make that happen too quickly!).
My Blake girl, I want you to know that you’re strong. You’re stronger than you may think and you’re going to change the world around you. I just know it. Don’t let anyone get in your way of doing good and following your dreams, including yourself. Always remember to love those around you, hold on tightly to your family and friends and stand up for what is right. Don’t fall into the traps of the world, the “shoulds”. A “should” is something that the world or your mind tells you should do, but not necessarily something you must do. Read the book, “The Crossroads of Should and Must” by Elle Luna. Do want your heart tells you to do, what you know is right, the things you grew up loving. Change the world and it will change you, I promise.
Remember your faith, what you’ve been taught through your life and your relationship with God and don’t let anyone tell you what you believe is wrong. Block out the negativity you face and be confident. You’re beautiful, you’re strong and you’re worth it. You’re worth everything and you’re absolutely perfect the way you are. Take this from your Mama, don’t let people push you around or put you down. In the end it’s only going to make you feel awful and the people that made you feel that way think they won. They didn’t win, don’t let them win. Brush off the bad and focus on all the good in your life.
One day you’ll reach a point in life when things are hard and for no reason at all. They’ll be really hard, you’ll lose loved ones, you’ll feel lost and you might even feel like your prayers and questions aren’t being answered. Pray harder. Turn to the Lord and write down all of the blessings you DO have. You’ll make it through it, I promise. It won’t be easy, in fact it might be the hardest thing you’ve ever experienced, but if there’s one thing I’ve learned in my life, it’s that faith is the most important life lesson. Without faith there’s nothing. Hold onto the future, to the happiness you’re going to feel again soon and the hope that everything is GOING to be okay.
Blake, you’re amazing, you’re going to do amazing things and you’re going to bring so many people happiness. You’ve already brought so many people happiness. You have changed my life, your Dad’s life, so much for the better. You’ve given us light, happiness and indescribable joy. Don’t forget your relatives, the people that love you and your family. We love you so much and we will be here for you forever and always.
And Blake, one last thing…don’t ever think you can’t come to me. You can tell me anything and everything. I promise to help you, to love you and to guide you forever.
I love you my sweet girl.
Love,
Mama
