In case you haven’t noticed by the pictures on Instagram, I might have an addiction to buying headbands for Blake. Really, just hair accessories all around…I can’t resist. I need ALL the bows! Well..with buying all the bows comes trying to find a place to organize them and in a way that I can actually find them and see them. So I set out to find a solution. First stop, I hit up Hobby Lobby (seriously–just shop there, you’ll fall in love with everything). Somehow though I only walked out with the one thing I came for; the ultimate storage box from Creative Options and it just happened to be cute and pink too.
I took it home, put Blake down for her nap and then pulled out every, single, one, of her headbands, hair clips, tiny little hair ties and I let the organizing begin! I got everything in piles of how I wanted them and then pulled out each little plastic container to keep them in their little “groups”. During this entire process of finding a solution to keep her hair accessories organized, I set three rules/tips for myself. The organization tips are as follows:
1. Find a storage container or solution that you love and is practical. By doing so you’ll have more of a want and desire to keep organized! I recommend looking into the Creative Options pieces, here.
2. If you take one out, put it back exactly how you found it. Otherwise there’s no point in being organized and well, you know how it’s going to end…with 50 headbands in a drawer stuffed somewhere.
3. Keep it out of reach. You know what I’m talking about…most of our little babes want to be extra great helpers which can sometimes turn into more of a mess than help. So I store our container in her closet on a shelf only I can reach!
I organized each of my three boxes by elastic headbands, fabric headbands and then clips/rubber bands in the third. Then in the very top part of the container that opens I store our brushes, comb, detangler and a little toy she gets while I do her hair. It’s pretty much the perfect set up and I’m obsessed. In fact I pulled it out yesterday and she was so excited. She helped me pull out the little container, grabbed her toy and watched as I picked out her headband.
