Yesterday morning, we had a plan; take the dogs to the groomer, grab some lunch and go check out the BSU football event happening downtown. I got Blake dressed, got myself dressed, through on my new Kangaroo sneakers (from Payless) and we were out the door. The drive to the groomers is always a little chaotic because well, just imagine–a husband driving, Mom taming two crazy pups in the front seat and a cute little one year old in the back who LOVES to yell. I mean, you could say it was a quiet drive 😉 KIDDING.
We eventually dropped the dogs off and headed downtown. We got there way too early for actual lunch and well, the game plan was ruined from that point on. So new game plan. I’m slowly learning to just roll with the punches, in life and especially as a parent. So the Farmer’s Market it was. After about five minutes of walking around I was feeling ever so thankful for the shoes I wore because well, I almost wore a cute pair of wedges and lemme tell ya, I would have regretted that real quick. We bought treats, took pictures, ate all the guacamole samples and of course, I bought flowers. I buy flowers every time we go to the Farmer’s Market, mainly for them to die two days later because I forget to water them, but mostly because they’re pretty for pictures. I’m that person, it’s fine.
Then lunch time. YAY. We had Flatbread Pizza which was delicious. Blake only threw two fits, so we called that a win and it was actually one of the smoother lunches we’ve had out in public. So overall, we chalked it up as a win and we were on our way to our next adventure. Yet again though, we had time to kill. I mean seriously, we are NEVER early anywhere so this was weird. Two times in a row, yet somehow we can’t ever make it to church on Sundays without being at least 5 minutes late?
We quickly changed little Blake into her BSU gear, found a park and decided to have the ultimate play date with our main girl before the event began. 😉 Well, that lasted all of five minutes because it was directly in the sun and everything was way too hot to play on. Blake spilled water all down my shirt, so I had to change and well…we were kind of at a loss as to what to do for 30-45 minutes with a one year old. At this point, Blake was kind of in meltdown central and this Mama was losing her patience and I about to throw in the towel. We were doing so good, then it all came crashing down. Isn’t that how life works though? Every time, whether it’s in a day, a month, a year, whatever–life General gives us a high and then the ultimate trial. Thank goodness for saving graces because the sweetest little boy and his Dad were heading to the car from feeding the ducks with a couple pieces of bread left. The sweet boy came running up excitedly and said, “Do you want this extra bread?!” I happily accepted and we walked over to the pond.
Blake had a blast! Literally, the biggest smile on her face and this Mama heart completely full. The tiny gesture of giving us his extra bread, made our entire day. The geese and duck gathered around us, quacking, eating the bread and Blake loved every single second of it. Don’t let her face in the pictures fool you, okay? Because regardless of not catching one single smile, she DID have a good time. Haha! 😉
Marcus was happy, Blake was happy, I was happy, my feet were happy in my new retro sneakers 😉 and it ended up being the best day. Blake fell asleep on the 2 minute drive from the park to the stadium. We went to the Boise State Football event, she slept on Marcus’ shoulder (ha! Literally, the entire time), had a blast and unfortunately I only have one picture to prove it because I couldn’t bring in my camera into the stadium. WAH. But that’s okay! We got the cute sleepy one before we went in!
Thank goodness for the sweet, kind people left in this world, amazing family, a patient husband and a crazy day turned into a great one.
More on my shoes I talked all about throughout the post:
Payless brought back their retro Kangaroo sneakers and well, I’m kind of obsessed. They’re beyond comfy, pretty dang cute and I love that I can pair them with a cute outfit and keep things comfy, but put together. Plus, they’re REALLY inexpensive for jogging shoes, but still give you support and bounce. You can see the full collection, here.
