Since we moved into our house…oh you know almost a year ago (that’s crazy), I’ve wanted to organize our master closet. When we moved in I was working a lot (yeah, that still hasn’t changed) and I wanted to just get everything in and unpacked so things just got shoved in the closet. There also wasn’t a ton of shelving or anything in the first place, especially for my shoe obsession…so it was bound to be a mess. Well, it happened, it finally happened! I forced my awesome husband to help me hang shelves, bought a rug, moved a chair and now I have my little dream closet on my not so big budget. 😉 Plus what better time to organize than right before the holidays happen anyways?! Well, I’m going to share the whole process with y’all here and the final product.
I started with the Rubbermaid Storage Planner, which was seriously great y’all. You put in your closet dimensions and then essentially build your closet right then and there. Then it tells you what pieces you need. After I finished that, I headed down to Lowe’s got all the pieces, a few storage bins and loaded it all in my car, a little giddy I’m not going to lie. 😉 I literally love to organize, it’s kind of sick so I was pretty stoked about this because I don’t have nearly as much time as I would like to organize these days. See how the Rubbermaid Storage Planner works here:
Design yours, here.
We used the Rubbermaid® HomeFree Series™ with a combination of different wire shelving and White wire shoe kits. The Rubbermaid® HomeFree Series™ features an expandable wardrobe organizer kit for closets from 3 to 10 feet in lengths. This gives you the ability to organize your closet in the way you want and that makes sense for your set up! Plus they’re really easy and quick to install, with no cutting and it literally took Marcus and I a couple of hours to do the entire project.
Step by step instructions:
- Start with the Rubbermaid Storage Planner to create your dream closet
- Run to Lowe’s and pick up the appropriate pieces and storage bins
- Grab your drill and get to installin’ 😉
- Purchase a rug to really add some dimension to the space and to give it more of a “dream closet” feel
- Put a fun lounge chair in the space
- Lay down on your fancy new rug, stare at all the organization and take it all in!
