Don’t get me wrong, Valentine’s Day is obviously a romantic holiday–but a holiday is a holiday and as far as I’m concerned, it’s the holiday of love and I love my little one (most days 😉 KIDDING). So that means that I get to celebrate with her too. Plus, any reason to celebrate, dress up and dance is just fine in my book. So I have three fun activities you can do with your littles this V-day, they’re simple, but cute and best part, mostly free 😉
1. Special Delivery. This is the one that’s not free, sorry. HA! Target sells super cute mailboxes in the dollar section or you can get creative and make your own using a tutorial like this one, here. Or if you just legit don’t have time to go to the store (first off, PREACHHH.), grab this one off of Amazon. Then fill it with little treats for them! You could even get creative and put a new treat in there every hour or couple of hours so that they have something fun to look forward to all day! Here are a few of my favorite things to put in the mailbox that are inexpensive and well, hello there again Amazon, can we say TWO DAY SHIPPING?
2. Heart Shaped Toast. This one is so easy and well, I tried it out on Blake today and let me tell you–she LOVED it. She was seriously obsessed with all the heart shaped bread! You could even be a really cool Mom (or Dad) and put pink sprinkles and cinnamon on top. I mean, we only live once right? If you really want to go all out and be the coolest of Moms (or Dads), you could get this pink toaster to cook your toast in that you’re going to cut in a heart shape and well, you’ll be winning in my book. Actually, I might really need that toaster now. PS. Here are some heart shaped cookie cutter links in case you don’t have one. See I’ve got yo back and I’ve given you a million and one to choose from (fine that was a little bit of an exaggeration, four, I’ve give you four to choose from). 😉
3. V-Day Game. Obviously Blake doesn’t really understand the concept of “games” yet, BUT she does understand that it’s fun to knock things down, dance and act crazy. So this is where V-day games come in. You’ll need yourself a heart ball (like this, one) then some things to knock down, toys, toilet paper rolls, whatever you want. In case you haven’t figured it out we’re doing V-day bowling people. Then, you play. I’m being a little bit sassy and it’s fine, because well…I’m just way too sarcastic, but I am serious. Blake LOVED it. We played today for a good hour. Hopefully she still loves it equally as much on actual Valentine’s Day. If you don’t like that game, that’s fine, here’s a few more that I love: Heart Tree // V-day Toss Game // Heart Hopscotch // Alphabet Monster
Once you’ve done all the fun things for the day, eaten all the heart shaped food and decorated everything pink (because DUH), then put that babe to bed, maybe call a babysitter and enjoy a little V-day dinner with your lover.
Check out the craft we did last year with Blake for V-day, here.
