When I was a little girl, I had dry skin and eczema so badly that I would literally have to lather up in lotions, medicines and creams at night, put socks over my hands and feet and hope for the best the next day. I was always itchy, my skin was flaky and honestly it was something I was really self-conscious about. It might sound totally silly but I’ve always worried Blake would have the same skin. Well, she does, but not quite as bad! The reason why is because thankfully over the many years I’ve suffered with dry skin, I’ve found products that actually work for me and since, well, she’s my child, those same products work for her just as well – so far.
Since I’ve grown up with dry skin it’s really affected my confidence, what I do and well my overall view of myself. It’s funny how simple little things like this can really affect your self-confidence. I mean I honestly remember in high school, skipping out on lake trips, parties, etc. anywhere my legs were showing because I was just so embarrassed by how red and irritated my skin was. Had I figured out what worked for me then and gotten my skin under control I can almost guarantee that I would’ve been outside a heck of a lot more! In fact, Curél questioned 40 bloggers, myself included, and found this to be true in most cases from those of us with dry skin.
I remember one time at a football game, I had my cheer uniform on (yep, I was that girl ;)) and someone came up to me laughing and asking what the heck happened to your knees? I know they probably didn’t mean much by it or realize what it was, but I was so embarrassed. I wore my pants under my skirt as much as possible after that and loaded my knees up with all the lotions at nighttime to try and get it to go away. When you’re younger things really affect how you look at yourself – that simple little question changed my entire outlook on myself as a person. Dry skin is the worst; it really sucks. It affects your entire lifestyle. I have to load up with lotion on my face before I put makeup on or it looks flaky, I have to keep with my regimen every night or things get off and out of whack and it’s just become a routine of life. Over the years I literally tried countless number of products, I spent tons of money and found little to no results with most. That being said, there are a few that I have found that work. One of them being Curél Hydra Therapy Wet Skin Moisturizer.
Curél Hydra Therapy Wet Skin Moisturizer has water-activated moisture which works deep into the skin’s surface. Basically, you apply it to your wet skin, right after you shower or bathe, but before you towel off. No need to rub it in, just towel off and move on with your day. It’s light feeling, but really does the trick without leaving you feeling oily or over moisturized. It repairs with Ceramides, which are usually naturally present in skin and are the building blocks to maintaining the moisture barrier. I think that’s one of my favorite parts about Curél is that it actually helps my flaky, red skin feels completely moisturized and hydrated. It does both, which is huge for this busy Mama. Plus, it’s been gentle and effective on Blake’s skin as well so we can share a lotion and have the same last effects. It’s a friggin’ win, win, y’all.
