Hi, Jess here, Mom of one and occasional shower-er. That’s a word right? Yeah, moral of the story is, I legit don’t have enough time to even brush my hair everyday or shower regularly (sorry), so what makes you think I have time to put make up on? Exactly. So I’ve perfect what I like to call the “five minute look” — I’ve found the best of the best in products, figured out a technique that takes five minutes to apply and mastered how to make it last all day long. Honestly, the products I’ve found sometimes even last two days…soo you’re welcome. 😉 Though, I will say my skin personally, hates when I sleep in make up. So maybe don’t do that? Unless you’re just blessed with naturally really great skin, if so, I hate you and you’re the luckiest.
Okay, okay, let’s chat make up now. I’ve created a really great graph below so that you can easily see the steps I take, but I’ll dive into products right now. I’ve tried tons and tons of products over the years and honestly, have found few that I love, but everyone’s skin is different so what works for me might now work for you. Though, I will say that I think every, single, Mom needs Trish McEvoy’s Instant Eye Lift and the new Trish McEvoy’s “The Make up of a Confident Woman” book! It’s the first thing I put on and it covers up those sad, tired, Mom eyes real nicely. 😉 Then the book gives seriously the best little confidence boosters and tips and tricks, everyone should have it!
So, I start with the Trish McEvoy’s Instant Eye lift, I put this on right under my eyes and make sure to spread it out just a little bit lower than you would normally think to! After that’s applied, I use a concealer to cover up any zits I have and then, I apply directly under my eyes again to brighten and conceal dark circles. I love the Trish McEvoy’s conceal and brighten or Tarte’s Creasless concealer. Honestly, most days I use both. Next, foundation it up! I use a brush to apply foundation and the reason why is because, it’s WAY faster and a heck of lot less messy. It takes me about 45 seconds to put foundation on and then another 15 seconds to set it with setting powder, which happens to be the next step. Then bronze with your favorite bronzer (or mine, here), apply a light brush of blush in a sweeping motion and finish off with your brows and lashes! I also would recommend eyelash extensions. Eyelash extensions are game changing and can make you look like you actually got ready for the day, without actually getting ready. 😉 If you’re in the Boise area, I recommend going to Look at me Now Lash Lounge! For your brows, they’ll take a bit to get the hang of, but once you’ve got it down you’ll be able to fill them in, in a matter of a few seconds! Michelle Money gives a really great tutorial, here.
Anyways, there’s my five minute make-up set up! Shop a few more of my favorite products below and make sure to get all the best accessories too! Brushes make a huge difference and Trish McEvoy has really great brushes, as well as full make up kits that are perfect for just starting out or even if you have quite the make up collection. I’ve linked them below under the accessories.
