The other day we were getting ready to go on a family walk, you know just your typical stroll around the neighborhood. 😉 HA! Actually we’ve been trying to do this more often because it’s so nice outside and well, honestly the sunshine has been so good for my soul. Isn’t that funny how much the weather can change your mood? Anyway, it was quite the argument getting out of the house, like 20 minutes of meltdowns and a whole lot of arguments about why Blake couldn’t wear lipstick all over her face and why her shoes had to be on the right feet. You know, just typical toddler talk. Eventually I gave up, she left the house with lipstick on her lips/cheeks and her shoes were on the wrong feet, but what the heck? It was going to be a good family walk dang it!
As we started walking I couldn’t help but think about this big meltdown/argument we had before we left the house. I mean, did it really matter that she was wearing her shoes on the wrong feet? Did it matter that she had pink lipstick down both sides of her face? Honestly, no. Then things got deep in my mind, you know all serious and the thought popped in that, this whole thing, this entire ordeal, it was a prime example of just letting her be her. Obviously there’s a point when it’s like, lemme help you out a little 😉 HA! But I want this sweet girl to be confident in her own skin, I want her to feel comfortable doing what she wants to do (within reason) and I want her to be kind, unique and believe in herself. I mean, it was just lipstick and wrong feet shoes, but it kind of made me realize one of the most important things I want Blake to be and that is, confident.
So the rest of our walk, I was a fun Mom. We all rocked out in our Crocs as a family from Zappos (the most comfortable shoes) and I let Blake just do her. She ran around, jumped a million times over the sticks in the park area and blamed the birdies for “taking” her sticker? i am still a little confused about that one. I mean, tell me I am not the only one with a toddler that remembers things like a week later and then combines them with something else and it totally doesn’t make sense? I mean….a bird never stole her sticker, sooo….
For serious though, can we talk about our shoes? They’re actually my favorite right now, like I wore them all week last week while I was traveling. I even insta-storied about them and had tons of y’all ask where they were from. Well, they’re Crocs and they’re from Zappos! We got some for the whole family and we’re all big fans. I have the Roka’s in “Pearl White” — seriously BOMB.COM people, like I legit bought another color, I’m that obsessed, you can shop them, here. Marcus also got the Roka’s but in Smoke/White Men’s obviously 😉 HA! Then for Blake she got the cutest Swiftwater slips ons, you can see them, here. They look like little baby tennis shoes and they’re the cutest!
Now, go buy all the Crocs and get ready for all the cute spring, ALMOST summer outfits!
