At the beginning of the year I knew I wanted to make a change, you know get in shape, be healthy all that good stuff. But then January 1st rolled around, then January 20th, then the 31st and well….no changes were being made. Finally I made a game plan, start slowly and be realistic. Signing up for work out classes that are 30 minutes away from my house, wasn’t realistic, when was I ever going to spend an hour in driving time to go work out, especially within my crazy schedule? Trying to run on 3 hours of sleep throughout the day with caffeine? Yeah, that’s another bad idea, caffeine was a must.
So I started slowly. I started hitting the gym every morning and not so much for that hot bod, but because I had, had enough and well honestly, my mental state was suffering because of how I was treating my body and my health. After a couple of weeks of straight gym sessions every weekday morning, I slowly cut out my daily Dr. Pepper, which was HARD y’all, like SO hard. Then after a couple weeks of that and finding a new, healthier drink to gimme all dat energy, I introduced healthy eating. I know it might sound silly, but it’s worked for me. Every time in the past when I would try and jump into a diet/workout routine I quickly failed afterwards because I tried to move too quickly and wanted results immediately. Unfortunately that’s not how things work, I mean I have been consistently working out and eating healthy now for a couple of months and well….my bod ain’t anywhere near where I want it to be. HOWEVER, my mental state is SO much better, like so much better. So to me the slow results are worth it because I’m much happier.
Now, let’s talk healthy eating because I think it’s been the hardest part. Mainly because I just don’t have a ton of time and I’m semi picky. BUT I have made it work, which means you can too 😉 For snacks I usually meal prep the night before or if I’m really on top of it, the Sunday before the week starts for the entire week. I only do this with snacks and the reason why is because breakfast is kind of my thing. I like waking up and eating breakfast while I wait for Blake to wake up (you know, now that I am getting up early and stuff 😉 ). Then for lunch and dinner, I usually rotate through Healthy Choice Meals! Top favorites are the Adobo Chicken Bowl (inspired by Latin Cuisine, which is my fav) and Korean-Inspired Beef Bowls!
