I’m sharing Secret in my life as part of a sponsored series for Socialstars™
GUYS. Though Idaho may not quite realize it yet, we’re still working on it, it’s summer time. I think maybe by Monday Idaho will get the clue that summertime calls for temps above 70 degrees, I mean at least that’s what the weather app says on my phone, but then again…this state has a mind of it’s own when it comes to weather. Either way, I’ve declared it summertime, the calendar has and well, my summer clothes ARE COMING OUT OF THE CLOSET. Through my years of blogging since becoming a Mom I have gotten the same question a few times, what outfits are best for Mama during the summer? You know, since it’s hot, but you’re also chasing kids around and you also don’t want to look like you’re 16 again.
I think, maybe, just maybe…my third summer in of being a Mom (holy cow, stop growing Blake), that I have figured it out. Last summer I did the midi shorts thing, wasn’t a huge fan. They just look awkward for me and honestly, I felt like your “typical” Mom. Though, this year I did find a good pair of midi shorts that are cute. Anyways, my go to for this summer and I’ve purchase quite a few are DRESSES. I know, you’re rolling your eyes and thinking, what friggin’ Mom wears a dress to chase her kid around in all day? Well, here’s the thing, I do. I also wear them in my bathroom while eating cake because I am hiding from the chaos, but that’s another story. You just have to find the right dress. I love dresses BECAUSE they’re breathable. So when I am carrying my almost 30 pound toddler around, that can definitely walk on her own, but won’t, I have air comin’ at me in all directions and I am not dying of heat. Second with the dresses, Secret Clinical Strength Deodorant. I said it, it’s fine. Let’s just be real though, hot summer months — you need a good deodorant and Secret Clinical Strength (in the invisible solid) is my go to. It lasts me all day long and I don’t feel like as much as a hot mess. Now, if only there was some instant thing like that for my hair…it provides 2x the sweat protection vs. an ordinary deodorant, which makes fashion sacrifices a thing of the past. So that’s friggin’ must.
Now, dress criteria. Here’s what I look for when I am looking for the perfect dress that I can wear all summer long, kid in tow or not:
- Length. Length is huge. I don’t want something too short or else the minute I bend over to pick up my tantrum throwing toddler it’s gonna be a problem. Also like how I am only pointing out the hard parts of parenting, it’s fine guys. Blake is really fun too, I swear. 😉
- Tightness. I don’t want a dress that’s too tight for several reasons, one it’s just not realistic for me to be playing with my babe in a tight dress. Two, I want to feel comfortable…I mean let’s be real, comfort is like top on my priority. So I generally go with a good flowy dress, plus that means easy access to throw my Secret Clinical Strength Deodorant on after I have already gotten dressed, because 9 times out of 10 I forget until I’m actually dressed.
- Sleeves. I am personally a fan of sleeves on my dress, this is just a preference thing, but it’s what I look for, not long, but just some cute short capped sleeves.
- Patterns and color. Finally, the good part. I try not to pick white dresses (though for whatever reason I am drawn to them) because they generally end up in the trash pile after about two wears because they’re covered in dirt, snot or whatever else Motherhood brought to it that time. 😉 I love a good pop of color of embroidery on it, plus embroidery is super in this summer so they’re all over the place currently, and I try to get thicker fabrics, that are still breathable. This way I don’t risk them falling apart easily or being see-through, but they’re still cool for the summer temps.
So this summer’s checklist:
+ All the dresses.
+ Comfy sandals
+ Secret Clinical Strength Deodorant
+ Hair ties, lots of hair ties
A few reasons why I choose Secret Clinical Strength:
It’s honestly the only deodorant that has worked for me since having Blake. I don’t know if it’s hormones or what, but things changed once I had her. You know what I’m talkin’ about Mamas. It offers superior odor and sweat protection and it comes it two forms which is nice. It’s even stress tested for women so that no matter what life throws at you that day, you’re protected, it also means that you can rock any outfit or fabric you want because it’s sweat protected, meaning you’re not going to pit out. Thanks for makin’ that happen’ for us Secret. Basically, they killed it in the deodorant department and now us Mamas are set.
Love that color on you!
Thank you!
