Put your hand up if your babe LOVES the water? Blake is literally obsessed, like sometimes it gives me a little bit of anxiety attack. But we have her in swim lessons and started this year. Funny enough when we first started she HATED it, wanted nothing to do with it, but we pushed through for a couple of weeks taking things slow and guess what? Now she wants to swim all day, everyday. Plus, now she understands a little bit about water safety which is huge for me.
We recently did a little lake trip to our local “beachy” lake and it was so fun. She floated around in her littleSwimWays Baby Spring Float and was loving life! I love trying to view the world like she does, you know just that sweet, innocent, care free spirit. It’s honestly incredible to watch her just experience life, the joy on her face for the simplest things, I think all babies kind of teach us these little life lessons of being happy with the here, the now and what we do have. They’re these little reminders that hey, we’re doing somethin’ right. 😉
I’ve been really working on slowing down this summer, well at least after this crazy week with Momday conf is over. HA! I want to be able to enjoy every moment, take each breath in and be a Mom. I love working, I love writing, I love what I do, but sometimes I need to step back and fill my “mom bank” if you will. So we’ve been hitting our “beach” as much as we can and soaking in all the fun in between the work. Our go to swim product this year has been our SwimWays Baby Spring Float, especially at this little lake. Blake just sits in it, floats around and let’s us pull her everywhere. It’s actually the cutest thing ever. I wish I had a better picture of it. She literally just lays back, sunglasses on, straight look on her face and chillin’. Â She used to do this last year actually (with this same floaty) and I love that she hasn’t outgrown it.
Now, reasons why we love this. One, we actually used the same floaty last year, in a different color, but by SwimWays so clearly we’ve been a fan for awhile. This year we’ve teamed up with them, so we got an different color version and we’re just as obsessed. It has a little canopy on it which is great, especially for my little light skin, blue eyed, red headed baby (all the odds not in her favor, sorry sweet girl). Which keeps the sun out of her face and her skin protected a little better, plus sunscreen of course. It’s flat and easy to store, the canopy has snaps and snaps on and off and we generally slide it somewhere in the garage and it’s totally out of the way without having to deflate it. It’s been the perfect way to introduce Blake to the water over the last two years and there’s a little mesh area for toys — which she loves. Finally, it has safety valves and dual fabric-covered air chambers which enhances security and the wide circumference of it helps with stability. Oh and one more fav that I almost forgot — it comes with a little carrying bag so when you need to store it in a smaller spot, you can easily!
We took it with us to Disney World — didn’t get to use it because it rained the whole time, but that proves my point about it being easy to travel with! SwimWays is just a great company, with great products and a strong effort to increase awareness around water safety. They’re actually a leader in helping children to learn to swim and promoting water safety.
Now, I’m literally off to pack our bag again so we can go play at the “beach” so if you need me, you know where I’ll be.  Run out, grab a SwimWays Baby Spring Float at Target here and get out and enjoy all the fun this summer.
What is your must have summer item this year?!
