Earlier this year I decided to change my lifestyle to more of a healthier one. While I am not perfect at it, I have definitely made some changes and I am proud of myself and how far I have come, even if it may only seem like a little bit! I have consistently kept to a workout routine for several months and have limited my soda and sugar intake immensely from what it used to be. I would say I still have a way to go, but it’s baby steps and it’s progress.
It was so important for me to make these changes because one, I wanted to feel healthier. While maybe I didn’t “need” to lose a huge amount of weight, I needed to feel better. I was constantly tired, dragging and found myself eating candy and other junk food for breakfast, rather than real food. I mean, don’t get me wrong, I’m all about a good bowl of ice cream for breakfast 😉 HA! But it was affecting my energy and mood so something had to change.
There’s actually a new show on Z Living called The Big Fat Truth that I am really excited to watch; it’s on Sundays at 8PM ET and they show the real reasons behind why people struggle with a healthy lifestyle and weight. Award-winning producer JD Roth uses problem-solving and motivational skills to transform these people’s lives. And well, while my focus has been more so for emotional well-being, I think it’s so interesting to learn about others journeys and to see what works for them. Each week they’ll feature different categories of people, former “The Biggest Loser” contestants, teachers one week, chefs, etc. It’s gonna be good y’all!
For me, I am the type of person that when I get stressed I either don’t eat or I eat junk, and generally it’s the latter one. So I have had to work really hard to instead take that stress and channel it into working out or taking 5 minutes and having a little meditation session with myself. GUYS, seriously it sounds ridiculous, but meditate, even if just for 5 minutes a day — it will change your life.
It’s just about finding that balance and y’all it takes time; I have tried, failed, tried again and failed again. It’s not something that happens overnight, but once you get there, just keeping with the consistency is huge. Not to mention, the minute it starts to kick in and you feel more energetic and just overall proud of the work you’ve put in — it’s the best feeling and you’ll just want to keep going. I also want to be a good example for Blake and well, she’s a growing little girl, so she needs a healthy influence in her life and to be eating healthy and growing good!
Now, run over, set your DVR or set a reminder and make sure you tune in on Sundays to The Big Fat Truth at 8pm ET on Z Living, and then join their FREE Big Fat 30 Day Challenge to get health and wellness tips exclusively from the producer, JD Roth.
