Over the weekend we threw a little avocado party with my sister and her husband and it was so fun. Blake has a serious love for avocados, in fact that might be an understatement. When she was younger I was a little worried she might turn green 😉 — you know how you hear the stories about babies turning orange when they eat too many carrots, HA! Kidding, but does that give you an idea of her love for avocados? When she was younger I used to make her all sorts of things with avocados because you can easily smash them up or blend them into a texture that’s easy for little babes to eat! Plus, they’re SO good for you, did you know avocados contribute nearly 20 nutrients, including vitamins, minerals, dietary fiber and phytonutrients, that are important to infant/toddler nutrition!? Fun fact.
Okay, so our avocado party — guys it was so fun and I really suggest doing it, even just a family because it’s just a fun, healthy way to eat and you know, be a cool Mom. 😉 We had the cute little avocado plates sent to us from Love One Today and then I grabbed Hass avocados at my local grocery store for all the little avocado dishes. We made stuffed cherry tomatoes with avocado puree, a REALLY yummy (my favorite) Avocado Pico salsa, seriously SO yummy with chips and then I chopped up a bunch of avocados in small slices for Blake to chow down on. The party was super cute. We brought our coffee table in the dining room, put pillows on the floor to sit on and I had Blake help me make all the dishes! And by help, I mean she just chowed down on avocados while doing so, but hey — at least they’re a wholesome, fresh food and are less likely to contain added sugars, salt and other processed ingredients, so it’s a win. She set the table, fed a whole lot of “treats” to the pups and then we had a blast with my sister (aka “Aunt Nee Nee”) and Andrew and well, it reminded me how important family time is.
So if you go to Love One Today, they actually have a ton of resources, fun facts and recipes for avocados on their site! In fact you can grab the cute cherry tomato recipe I did, here and then the salsa recipe, here. But there’s TONS of recipes guys, like for soups, desserts, salads, wraps you name it — all on their site. So you’re sure to find the perfect one for your family to create an avocado party!
