Oh my gosh, I can’t believe the baby shower is over. It’s crazy! As much as I don’t want to admit it, that was my last A Positively Baby Shower for now. I have something else in the works (that I can’t WAIT to share and will be a spin off), but for now it’s time to focus on my family and take a tiny break. This last one was incredible though. The Moms, our sponsors and the entire trip. There were a few hiccups, but I was so lucky to have my sister join me and a great friend since high school. We had so many helpers at the shower and I honestly, it was an answer to prayers. I have a full blog post coming soon about it all so stay tuned.
For now, let’s chat about our fun Reno stay because it was actually totally a blast. We drove to LA, but stopped in Reno on the way there and back, both times staying at Peppermill Reno. GUYS, I kid you not when I say GORGEOUS. It was seriously stunning. We honestly didn’t even leave our hotel the entire time because there was just so much to do there. I will say the second time was definitely more fun because my sister and cute baby nephew Jack were there, BUT the first time was great too and Blake and I got some much needed Mama/Baby time. The resort had shopping, food, beautiful rooms and the bathroom, well the size of Blake’s bedroom at home — so does that sum it up? The customer service was incredible and nothing was short of spectacular.
When we first arrived to Reno I actually thought I was going to have a breakdown. I drove by myself with Blake there and stopped to get gas before I checked in because I wanted to be able to just get up in the morning and hit the road. Well…I turned our rental car back on after getting gas and lights were flashing and it was driving terrible. Blake was DONE with the car and screaming in the back while I am on the phone with the rental car people trying to figure it out and in full blown tears and I was honestly at my breaking point. LIKE COME ON. After a hot friggin’ mess of trying to walk me through trying different things and attempting to find another SUV in that area, I ended up just driving carefully to the local rental car place so they could look at it. It was super jumpy as we drove and I was still, you know in tears and Blake was in the back yelling “STOP TALKING ON THE PHONE!” then would follow with “Sorry, my kid’s being loud!” So there’s that. HA! I got to the rental car place and they looked at the car and welp guys…100% user error or actually, 100% Blake error. She pushed a whole bunch of buttons while we were getting gas and this car was much fancier than mine at home. So…long story short she had turned several things off and put it in 4-wheel drive low. The guy turned it off (and literally it was about 6 steps to do so, so I never would’ve figured it out) and we were on our way!
We ordered room service both times we were at the resort, because well after driving all day what else would you do? But lemme tell you that first time after that car mishap was heavenly people. Not to mention the staff and all their help, they parked my car and helped me with my luggage and basically picked up my sad, tear stained face off the floor and put the pieces back together. We ordered breakfast, fries and chocolate cake (got that same chocolate cake the second time too). The food was so good and Blake thought it was pretty great that they literally brought it to your room. HA! She kept yelling “The food is here! The food is here!” and the server thought she was just the cutest thing ever and well…I can’t say I disagree 😉
The second time, we had my sister Ariel and her cute little boy and Blake ended up in the kiddie part of the pool, fully dressed. All I could do was laugh though because I mean — welp, Mom life and honestly, again — driving all day so who even cared? The pool employees were cracking up too as she laid in the pool like she was just a little baby fish. We wrapped the night up with room service again, a little shopping at their local stores and then gelato from the place downstairs by the pool.
So grateful for the best family, great friends and well — a pretty amazing resort hotel that gave us a much needed little break in between the driving.
