Since I started working out, anything that gives me the opportunity to change up my work out is good by me! Especially when it’s a workout by a Mom, for Moms. I am very much a visual person. I can’t just read something and know how to do it, I’ve been this way my entire life. SO when it comes to workouts I do best with a teacher, pictures, video, whatever — but something that shows me exactly what to do. I’ve also learned that this type of structure is just great in general for me and my work out routine rather than just hitting the gym and hoping I figure something out. When I first started really hitting the gym in early spring, I would go, run for a few minutes, work on another area, do some abs, get a drink…honestly after a few weeks of going it gelt pointless because I wasn’t making any progress.
So then I finally figured out what really makes a work out work for me and that is consistency and guidance. Recently I started a 14 week workout and nutrition program. I am on week 3 and it’s been SO good! Plus it’s super convenient and in a book (you can get it in a hard copy or e-book), so I was able to just bring it along with me to LA and do it in our Airbnb! It’s called “The FIT Mom” and it’s by McCall Williams and guys it’s honestly been really good. Like I said, it’s in a book and it’s totally flexible because you can do it wherever and whenever. However, my favorite thing about it is the fact that it’s geared towards Moms and it’s not overly intense, like I feel like I can handle it, but like I am also getting a really good work out. AND I’ve seen progress. I’ll post a real before and after once I am done with the full 14 weeks, but I’ve lost a couple more pounds and a little over an inch in my waist since starting it so I am feeling good about it. BUT as I’ve told y’all before, obviously I work out so that I am healthy and can feel confident about myself, but overall it’s just a REALLY good way to control my anxiety.
The book goes through each week and breaks down each individual exercise showing you how to do it, how many reps, etc. It’s super thorough and really efficient. She has taken all the “Mom factors” into account and made the work outs perfect for an at home, efficient work out with babies climbing all over you 😉 Exhibit A above. The nutrition guide is also super easy to understand (not a bunch of big words and complicated things to figure out) ANDDDD you guys (and this is something I get asked A LOT when I share fitness stuff), she has breastfeeding adjustments automatically in there for all of it!!!
