For the last couple of years I have been asked this question quite a few times, so I figured well — let’s get a post up about it. Though, y’all might be like — dang your days are boring. BUT I am going to give you a little run down of our days. Usually they’re all a little different, but for the most part we keep to a semi-schedule and the same structure, just different activities/work.
I’m even going to break it down into a little schedule 😉 You know, because gettin’ all fancy for you.
5:30AM: I usually get up around 5:30AM to be to the gym by 6AM. I have learned that early morning gym sessions are just really good for me, my health, sanity and happiness. So now I make it a priority.
7:00AM: At this point I am generally rolling back in the door and home from the gym. Blake wakes up literally at a different time everyday, so I never know whether or not she’s going to be up. If she’s not awake, this is prime time that I take full advantage of to answer emails, catch up on things I didn’t finish the day before, just whatever work stuff needs to be done.
Morning-12PM: Our mornings are a little different everyday, but they’re usually spent with a little bit of work for me, running errands and some one on one time. I try really hard to make one on one time for Blake and I everyday in the morning. Obviously there are days that are just a lot busier than others and it just doesn’t happen like I wish it would, but for the most part I’m able to at least get 20 minutes in of playing Barbies or whatever she really wants. I also make sure to set my phone aside during that time so that she has my undivided attention. And tip: put it in another room. It’s tempting to look at your phone still when it’s next to you. I’ll literally put mine in my office or somewhere else so it’s not even a thought. — Also, I will note that a couple of days a week during the mornings I have someone watching Blake so that I can work all day long.
12-12:30PM: Usually this is our lunch time, though it obviously varies. I’m flexible, Blake is pretty good with flexibility and we just roll with each day, but eventually we eat lunch. 😉 Usually it’s a quick lunch and my go to lately has been Tai Pei asian food entrees. They’re so good, super easy to make (like pop em’ in the microwave) and Blake really likes them so I can knock out two people’s meals in one. They have a lot of flavor options, eliminating boredom, with the fried rice and they are all made with real, pure ingredients, and no preservatives or artificial ingredients. It’s basically frozen fried rice with a little something else and they come in ready to eat little bowls — so no dishes. 😉 I know, am I totally convincing you yet? They’re basically a Mom’s dream. Oh and I have a coupon for you for $1 off for these little fried rice bowl of deliciousness! Use the store locator to find where Tai Pei is available near you.
After lunch-3:00PM: After lunch time Blake goes down for a nap (or quiet time, depends on the day and whether or not she’s boycotting naps that day) and I work. This is my prime time for work. Essentially three hours to get as much done as possible HA!
3ish-4:30: Once Blake is up, sometimes she will come in the office and play or watch a little show while I finish up the work that I have to get done for that day because well, as much as I want to pretend like the morning and those three hours were enough, most days it’s not. But she’s really good about just hanging out with me for a little bit while I finish up.
4:30: Marcus usually gets home between 4:30-5:00 on a normal day but somedays he coaches or has a game, so really that’s all up in the air and all over the place, but eventually he gets home 😉 We usually do family time and just hang, chill for a little bit and just kind of spend time together.
Dinner time: We eat dinner basically at a different time every night, but usually it’s sometime between 6 and 7, HA! See…told you, chaos 😉
After dinner-bed time: After we eat, we hang around, I finish up on work things and Marcus usually spends time with Blake for a bit. Then between 8-8:30PM she goes to bed. After that Marcus and I will hang out, watch a show and then hit our own pillows because well — exhaustion people.
*Tip: Every single night before I go to bed, I make a to-do list for the next day. It just preps my mind for what needs to be done and then I feel a little more on top of things the following day. I write down everything I need to do in order from most important, to least and put check boxes next to them so I can physically “check them off” through out the day. TRY THIS! It’s seriously so game changing.
So there you have it, a little look at what most of our weekdays look like. 😉 Chaos right? HA! It’s always a little different and sometimes we have curveballs, but I’ve just learned that I have to use time management in order to keep on top of things. Ask me about laundry though, that’s another story — piles and piles currently behind me waiting to be folded. WHOOPS!
Also, stock up on Tai Pei entrees in the freezer, can’t stress that enough! They’re just so easy to make, delicious to eat and have been game changing for lunch time giving Blake and I more time to spend together while we eat, rather than me cooking something up!
