So the other day Blake was playing with this little car thing she has. It’s one of those toys that is SUPER friggin’ loud, plays the same thing over and over again (that is only about 3 seconds long might I add) and there’s not a volume control on it. She had been playing with it for about 45 minutes at that point and well, I was so over listening to it. HA! Just a little real life parenting for you. It’s fine. So I thought — wait, let me bust out this other toy that we just got (because well, it’s quiet) and see if she’s into. So I offered to let her open the new toy (which naturally, she was all for — I mean, new toy) because well, Mama needed like 10 minutes of just quiet play. SURPRISE, she friggin’ loved it.
Which got me thinking. Blake isn’t really into naps anymore. I mean, it’s hit or miss. Somedays she takes them, other days — not so much. BUT either way, I make her go in her room for a little bit so that I can get some work done and she can have some quiet time. Well while she was playing with this new toy (I’ll tell you what it is, in a second) — I thought, this is the perfect toy for quiet time!! Okay, okay, so let me tell you what the toy is – it’s called Tot Tube and it’s actually pretty simple once you see it. So here’s some more pictures:
It’s a little tube that you can put cars (and other toys — exhibit A, Blake) down and play with. GUYS — SHE LOVED IT. It actually had me cracking up because I swear to you, we buy this big expensive gifts and then she plays with it for five minutes and is over it. When I literally could have spend under $20 (plus a promo code below) – yeah, you heard me right, on a toy that one promotes some creativity and two, she plays with for way longer than five minutes! So Inspiration Play (the brains behind these awesome toys) actually creates another item besides just this Tot Tube! It’s a board game called “Double Ditto” (and again, totally affordable under $20). You quickly pick a card in the game and write down the first two things that pop into your head in hopes that someone else will write the same thing! I’m actually going to order it for the holidays because we are BIG game players in our house and since family will be here — it’s perfect!
Now for the Tot Tube, it was super easy to put together (literally took less than a minute) and I think it would be adorable to get another one and have little “races” with cars in them! Blake uses them for well…her Barbies and “snowballs” as you can see above…but ya know, girl Mom problems — they work really well for cars too 😉 HA! You can read more about it and grab one, here. Also, use the code “SOAKES25” for 25% off! I now put it in her room though for when she decides she isn’t going to nap that day and instead she can just play quietly with it while I get some things done and it’s just a win, win for all of us!
