Guys, I swear this time of year is always really tough on my immune system, but for whatever reason this year is that times ten. UGH. And honestly, you mamas get it – ain’t nobody got time for that. I’ve got work to do, a kid to take care of and well – everything in between that in a busy life of a mom. So I’ve been trying really hard this year to make healthy changes that will hopefully keep me as healthy as possible. *knock on wood* And I thought it would be fun to share them here since I know we all could benefit. 😉 So here’s what I’ve been doing:
- Going to bed early. Obviously easier said than done, depending on when your kid decides it’s time for them to go to bed 😉 AKA: they refuse to sleep when you put them in bed at 8. *insert face palm emoji* – There are also nights where I have to work and well, that’s just life. BUT for the most part, I have been trying to be in bed by 10-10:30 at the latest which allows me to get a full eight hours of sleep and get up in the morning before Blake wakes up for a workout. Which leads me to my next point…
- Working out – Y’all know I’m on the workout train currently. HA! It’s been so good for my mental state though and health. I honestly feel better than I ever have and that’s a big deal for me. So this is a huge one. There are days where it’s harder to get up in the morning, so if I have one of those days, I will generally allow my body to sleep in (because obviously it’s telling me it needs it) and I’ll hit the gym in the evening that day when Marcus gets home.
- Taking a probiotic. I’m a pretty firm believer in probiotics, have been for years. My mom was always telling me to take one and since becoming a mom myself I’ve just really seen the importance of it. - Setting “work hours” – this goes for work itself and motherhood for me. It fills my mental health bucket and also helps me stay a little more on track and organized rather than rushing to finish things and staying up way too late which just goes back to tip number one. 😉
Those are the four main things I have been doing and they seem to be making an overall difference for me. 😉 The probiotic though has been really good for me.
