Blake is hit or miss with “helping” around the house, but I swear when she wants to, I can’t even begin to think about what she “can” and “can’t” do. SO I got to thinking. It was a little easier when she was a little younger, she would just follow me around with her toy vacuum and little broom and that was that. It was friggin’ adorable and she felt like she was ‘helping”. Now, she’s over the whole following me around wth her toy cleaning supplies and wants in on the real things. SO new game plan and let me share.
- Pretend Spray Bottle and wipe – this is Blake’s favorite thing. I just put water in it usually and tell her she can spray it once then wipe. It she sprays it more (because Mama doesn’t want water everywhere), it goes up. HA! Meanest Mom ever. She’s usually pretty good about listening though and since there’s actually water in it and a little rag, she feels like she’s doing what I’m doing.
- Apron up – aprons go a long way in our house, I don’t know why she loves them so much, but if she’s wearing one she feels like she is too cool for school. Her apron represents baking, cleaning, being a princess and whatever else she is imaging that day 😉 But moral of the story – bring out a dang apron!
- Make a little bucket for them. I bought Blake just a simple little bucket with a handle from the dollar store, then put in it the little spray bottle she uses, a rag, a sponge, a little pack of wipes and a duster. She loves it and every time I clean (which let’s be honest, is rare), she runs over and gets it!
Since this entire post is about cleaning, it only felt right to share a little somethin’ for Mama – ya know 😉 You can thank me later for it. So I found a new product that I love. It’s not new, but it’s new to me and it’s versatile which is my favorite part because I can use on product on multiple places in our house. It’s Bon Ami – have you heard of it? It’s a biodegradable powder cleanser that you can literally use on your kitchen cookware to your bathroom floors. See? Versatile. You can sprinkle the powder directly on, make a paste and clean or you can throw it in a spray bottle with water and spray, then wipe (this is what I like to do). Best part – no odors or harsh chemicals. They use simple ingredients so that it gets things clean, but doesn’t have harsh chemicals in it and I feel good about using it around my Blake and our pups!
ALRIGHT…now hit me with your favorite cleaning supplies and ways to get your littles involved!
