When we started building our home we had to pick and choose between upgrades we wanted because well, life and money and our builder didn’t have a lot of the options we wanted in certain spots. SO we knew we had a lot of DIY projects ahead of us! After we closed, before we even moved in – we got to work on our laundry room floor. I wanted to get this room done immediately for a few reasons, but first and foremost because well the washer and dryer would be much easier to put on AFTER the floor was in π HA
So we got to work! We put in Tarkett’s latest line, Pro Gen – actually Marcus did in a matter of 2 hours and it looks better than I even imagined it would. I chose a dark wood color for the laundry room to really give it some contrast between the bright white walls and the flooring. The Pro Gen line is perfect for first time homebuyers (or experienced), it doesn’t warp or bend when exposed to temperature fluctuations or sunlight (which is why we chose it for the laundry room!). And it is 100% reclaimable/recyclable after use. Here’s a little behind the scenes of the installation:
Our favorite part about it was – the installation. Like I said it took two hours for the full installation and just a standard tool set. You can cut with a basic utility knife, install the same day you receive and it requires no acclimation time. So without further ado π let me show you our cute little laundry room that you know… spend a huge chunk of my day in. Literally – does anyone else feel like they do laundry all day everyday? Basically my entire life is just laundry with glimpses of chaos, Motherhood and some fun in between. Ha!
As far as some laundry room tips — there were a few things we included in this room to make you know, the daunting task of laundry a little easier. One was a floating shelf above the washer and dryer with baskets. We didn’t do the typical shelf with a hanging bar and the reason why was because I just never used it before so I didn’t want it in this house. Instead, we opted for that floating shelf that our girl Rustic Rose made for us and then we put three baskets up there so we could hide all the yucky laundry stuff! I also kept with my same detergent method as our last house in the giant drink dispenser, it’s easy to pour out and dump in!
