So…if you couldn’t tell by these pictures, I think I found where we will be living this summer. The pool! Blake has asked basically every, single, day since we moved in (because our neighborhood has a pool) and we finally went and picked up the keys for it yesterday and we were there oh…45 minutes later. She is seriously a little fish and LOVES the water, I was so impressed with just going under, jumping in and having a blast. The first thing she asked when she woke up this morning was, “When Daddy gets home from work can we go swimming again?” HA! I think it’s safe to say she’s hooked. She slept like a champ last night though, so honestly I ain’t even mad.
Anyways! SUMMER IS HERE. I feel like it’s more officially here now that we are in our house. I mean, it was here before, but now it’s “REALLY” here. 😉 HA! Pretty soon (hopefully) we will have our backyard done, the house will be fully unpacked and we will be livin’ up this summer and checking things off of our summer bucket list (you can see that, here). WELP, since we will be outside a huge chunk of the summer (because where else would you be), I thought it was the perfect time to team up with Think About Your Eyes and share some helpful tips and tricks to keepin’ those little’s eyes safe, not just this summer, but all the time.
Marcus and I both actually wear glasses, so this is something that has been on my mind for a little while since well, genetics. Marcus wears contacts all the time and I wear glasses for working and driving. SO I love the entire message behind Think About Your Eyes, a national public awareness campaign for vision health. They have tons of facts, tips and information on their site for both kids and adults, but today I’m going to share just a few tips we use and plan to do with Blake for her little eyes!
- Sunglasses – We rock sunglasses as much as possible. Obviously while swimming and such that’s not always going to happen because well, swimming, but I finally actually just found her a pair of goggles that will hopefully fit and ordered them on Amazon yesterday, so she can wear those in the pool once they get here!
- Eye Exams – Summer is the perfect time to take your children in for an annual comprehensive eye exam, especially now that school is out. We have her first eye exam scheduled for the end of summer (right before she starts pre school) and it was super easy to find her a doctor nearby with great reviews on Think About Your Eyes.
- Take Precautions Early on – I think it’s important to just be aware of everything and your little’s vision, the way they react and keep an eye on it. Study up on their site to gain some knowledge and just educate yourself!
