Anyone else been living outside this summer? Seriously, we’ve been out in the sun just about every single day either at the park, the pool or just on a walk. It’s been good though, I need sunshine in my life and well, we’ve had a whole lot of it lately and I don’t really ever want it to end now. Blake’s so cute every time we go out in the sun though, she always goes “MAMA! I NEED SUNSCREEN BECAUSE THE SUN!” It cracks me up, I mean she’s right but it’s just the way she says it.
Well obviously, skincare is super important though – especially in the sun and summer time. And as I’ve mentioned my Mom had melanoma, so it’s a huge must when it comes to protection for our skin. I shared at the beginning of the summer my top product for skincare this summer and well, it hasn’t changed. Olay Whip Regenerist with SPF 25. HANDS DOWN. I’ve used it morning and night for a few months now and love it so much. It’s basically the unicorn of moisturizers and I’m hooked, plus it’s honestly done wonders for my skin. I started using it strictly for the SPF and great hydration it did for my skin and ended up really falling in love for a few reasons.
One, it literally keeps my makeup on 10X better, it’s a primer and it really works, totally eliminating that awkward 3PM shine, you know what I’m talking about. It’s lightweight which was one of the things I fell in love with, so it doesn’t feel heavy on your skin at all and it’s made a huge difference over all in the tightness and brightness of my skin. My fine lines are smaller, I feel way more comfortable without makeup on and it’s been a huge win. I actually got my Mom and sister hooked on it too. It’s that good 😉 And finally, the SPF – guys this is huge for me. It’s on my skin without even thinking about it since I put it on automatically morning and night and my skin is being protected when we are out and about in the sun.
A couple other tips I’ve done this summer to keep my skin a little more protected just because again, it’s so important to me. First, I keep sunscreen in my car, my purse, on the back patio and in the garage. ALL super easily accessible for when we are getting ready or already out in the sun. Two, hats – I try really hard to wear a hat when we are in the sun for a long period time and do the same for Blake. Blake’s hats have the straps under them too which has been super helpful, so I recommend that too 😉 And finally, chapstick – keep it everywhere and apply it often, you don’t realize how much the sun dries your lips out until well, they’re dried out.
What sort of things do y’all do for your skin during the summer?
