We recently got a new mattress, if y’all remember – you probably saw the insta-story of Marcus trying to carry it up the stairs. HA π It was quite the sight to see and he wouldn’t let me help because well, pregnant. I sure do love him! Anyways, so we literally opened it up and set it up the day it arrived in the mail. We also got their sheets, pillows and a duvet set as well. Everything is from Tuft + Needle and I thought it would be fun to talk about the “8 hour sleep challenge” we took with them and give a little review and thoughts on the mattress. Especially because so many of y’all have asked.
My sister is actually the one who got me interested in Tuft + Needle, HA! We were texting about them about a month ago and she was telling me all the hype she had heard and read about them. Marcus and I have needed a new mattress for a little while, so we were already on the hunt and well, I’m not gonna lie since she talked it up and after stalking the internet too, I was really intrigued by them as well. Well, flash forward two weeks later and an email popped up in my inbox from them and well, the rest is history and basically it was a match meant to be. So first initial thoughts of it – the unboxing was LEGIT. HA π You’ve all seen it, you know the cool mattress in this small box (for a mattress) and then you unwrap it and cut it up and it expands. Well, it didn’t disappoint my easy to please mind. HA! It was fun to watch. Anyways, after we got it opened and set up, we threw the new pillows and sheets on it. We went with the linen ones in “Sand” and I love them! Marcus was actually really surprised I didn’t get white….hahaha. I was a little surprised too, but I wanted to change it up. Let me scream this from the rooftop for you, THEY ARE SO COMFORTABLE + THEY STAY COOL. That last part is my favorite part. In fact, we went with the “Mint Mattress” for this reason too. I’m a really hot sleeper and I needed something that stayed cool and you guys, I’m so impressed with both the mattress and sheets. For the Duvet, we did the down one in white (whoop, there it is, in my natural state again).
After our first night of sleep, I woke up and told Marcus OH MY GOSH, THAT WAS THE BEST SLEEP EVER. Y’all know what I’m saying, when you find that comfort, that cloud like sleeping, but where you can get out of bed without shaking the other side of the mattress and waking your partner up. It was incredible. I mean, I woke up and peed at least 3 times that night because #pregant and he didn’t even know I got up. That alone is gold y’all. I’m actually going to take you through on stories too though so you can really see the mattress and details of everything. So run over there if you want to see it in depth and up close in video!
As for the 8 hour sleep challenge, well, when we said okay, let’s do this new mattress thing, we also set some goals with Tuft + Needle and one of those was to aim for 8 hours of sleep. This meant, changing old habits, setting better schedules, etc. In fact, one of my new years resolutions was to be in bed by 10PM Sun-Thurs and y’all I’m not going to lie, I’ve been terrible at it. Sooo this was a nice remind and kick in the right direction that I needed. SO Marcus and I came up with a game plan, we worked on Blake’s routine and got it better under control – because honestly, that was a huge reason why we are up so late. By the time she’s asleep it’s 9:30 and we wanted us time and then before we knew it midnight. – So we got her schedule down better to be in bed and (fingers crossed) asleep by 8:30. I mean, there’s always gonna be loops thrown our way, but for the most part she’s done pretty good. That meant, him and I could hang out, watch our shows and chill until 10PM then get ready for bed. We kept our routine the same, you know TV, teeth, face routine, etc. then bed – just pushed it up a little earlier so we could ensure we were doing our best to aim for 8 hours of sleep. Now, that being said, we knew there would be randoms night of Blake waking up, etc. I mean – parenthood – but we have really done our best at getting our 8 hours for the past few weeks and you guys, that mixed with this mattress, I FEEL LIKE A NEW WOMAN. Marcus says he feels better too π BUT I MEAN, ME YOU GUYS. π HAHA!
Long story short – moral of the story – we LOVE this mattress and I honestly can’t say enough good things about it and the sheet set. If you’re in the market for a new mattress or even just sheets or a comforter/duvet – guys, make it happen – I’m telling you, you know I only share things I really love and this will not disappoint! In fact if you’re looking for all the things, they have a “Mint Bundle” which is awesome too!
Iβm curious about the pillows. I find it extremely hard to find a good comfortable pillow. What are your thoughts on the ones that came with your mattress?
LOVE THEM. They are more shaping, so like you lay in it and your head kind of molds around it, but then it goes back to its normal shape after….if that even makes sense. But they’re super comfortable, just that style in case you’re looking for different. π I can also sleep with only one of them, whereas before I was sleeping with two.
Curious about the mattress firmness. Is it super firm a medium soft?!
I would say it’s in between memory foam and firmness. I’ve been saying it’s firm enough to get out of easily, but also super comfortable to sleep in if that makes sense!
