Can you believe I have my big anatomy scan ultrasound in like TWO WEEKS?! GUYS. This pregnancy has gone fast and slow. It’s weird, moments of like HOLY COW and then moments of, seriously…this is the slowest thing ever. I’m so excited to see his cute little face though and I’m hoping Marcus can sneak out of work to come with to that appointment, mainly for the support of wrangling Blake for a two hour appointment. I mean cool, come see baby boy too – but like, heyyyyy want to help me keep her occupied too? 😉 KIDDING. Okay, let’s answer questions now. I just think this is the easiest way to do it, then we get everything in and an update and yeah, okay done now, Q+A time.
Q: When are you due?
A: September 22nd, see when I write that I feel like oh, you know in 2 years.
Q: Favorite thing so far about this pregnancy?
A: I’m not going to lie, this pregnancy has been freaking rough. Butttt, favorite thing – probably watching it through Blake’s eyes. She’s old enough to totally get it and it’s been super sweet to see her little personality start to shift into sister.
Q: What are you looking forward to the most about this delivery?
A: Honestly – not sure…hahah I really want to try and go into labor on my own. I was induced with Blake because her fluid was really low, but my recovery was really rough after and breastfeeding was hard because honestly, I don’t think she was 100% ready to be out. So I’m hoping to not be induced this time, butttt that being said, circumstances arise and well, I ain’t going to make it much past my due date because well, #impatient.
Q: Are you doing a medicated or unmedicated birth?
A: Soo…honestly, I’m like gimme dem drugs, I don’t want to feel a dang thing. HOWEVER, I’m slightly intrigued to do unmedicated PURELY for the reason of recovery. Like I said my recovery with Blake was seriously SO rough, so I really want to do whatever I can to avoid that. BUT, I also have zero pain tolerance, so realistically, an epidural will probably happen.
Q: Current cravings?
A: Honestly, nothing consistent at all. I crave different things, every, single, day. But it’s like a deep crave, like I HAVE TO HAVE THEM. Like tonight, Jersey Mikes…..if you watched my insta-stories you know what I’m talking about 😉 I have however loved a good snow cone lately. Seriously though, it changes, one day I’m like pears, bananas, all the fruit and the next it’s switches to SUGAR everything…
Q: What was baby’s heartbeat today?
A: 135! Which it’s been there basically the last several times they’ve measured it.
Q: The biggest question I was asked of all – do we have a name?
A: NOPE. Hahahah. Seriously we have like 5 girl names we love, but can’t seem to agree on a boy name to save our lives. We have a couple we like, but nothing that is like YES, THAT’S IT….sooooo honestly, he will probably have a name when he is like 5 days old at this rate. 😉
Q: Have you found a pregnancy pillow you love?
A: Nope…I tried the c-shape one and hated it. Mainly because you have to use it for the pillow under your head too and well, it’s not fluffy enough for my liking. So still on the hunt for this…
Q: When you have a name, when will you be announcing it?
A: Honestly, probably when he is born 🙂
Q: Egg retrieval to conception, how long was the process?
A: We started shots in October, egg retrieval in November, then transfer in January. Soooo it ain’t fast, that’s for sure. So excited for you!!!!
Q: How do you handle nausea and “morning” sickness?
A: Honestly, I’m on meds now for my nausea it was so dang bad. It’s made a world of differences and still, even almost halfway through – I’m so nauseas if I forget to take it. So that’s what I was saying when this pregnancy has been a little rough…hahah. I have found chewing gum helps quite a bit!
Q: Are you doing any type of fitness during your pregnancy?
A: I am trying my best to stay active! I haven’t been great since getting home from Hawaii, but am hoping to swing back into it next week when things have slowed down a little. I love running outside, walking if I can’t run and doing light weights.
Q: How did you physically prepare your body for IVF?
A: Honestly, I kept working out, upped my water in take and did the best I could. I don’t you can every “full prepare” your body for what it’s about to go through, but I think taking one day at a time is the best way to handle it all.
Q: What prenatal vitamins do you use?
A: I tried gummy ones, but hated them because you had to take like 7 a day….ain’t nobody got time for that. So currently I’m just taking ones I got from Costco. HA
Q: Why don’t you get to hear the heartbeat during an ultrasound?
A: So I guess they’ve found it can be damaging (I don’t know if that’s the right word) to baby, so they don’t do it anymore. They did with Blake, so it’s obviously a recent change in the last four years, but yeah!
Q: Favorite maternity jeans?
A: Hands down – Good American.
Q: Is a double stroller worth it if you have an older toddler?
A: Personally, I think yes. Blake will be almost 4.5 by the time he is here…and honestly, for big trips or occasions she doesn’t last very long walking so I’m all about it. We also ordered the skateboard attachment to the back too so she can hop on that as well!
Q: 1st trimester fatigue help!?
A: Ugh, I wish I knew the answer to that, I literally took a daily nap every, single, day during the first trimester, it’s the only way I survived. Blake was seriously such a trooper those first few weeks. HA
Q: Do you have a diaper brand you prefer or plan to use?
A: So we used Honest and Bambo Nature with Blake, loved Bambo so much! But I really want to try Hello Bello, soooo I’m going to test run those!
Q: Favorite pregnancy app?
A: I love Ovia!
Q: Are you limiting caffeine at all?
A: Honestly, nah. My doctor said to just continue with what I was doing before, since it wasn’t a ton to begin with. I usually have one glass of caffeine something per day.
Q: Are you looking for any baby gadgets to buy?
A: I have a list of my must haves! I’ll be sharing this soon, but my biggest is an Owlet, DO IT.
Q: Shoe suggestions for sore feet?
A: Honestly, I’ve been living in my nikes lately…hahah they’re comfy.
Q: Recommendations for pregnancy workout clothes?
A: I love Old Navy + I love Beyond Yoga (sooooo soft).
Q: Do you think he will have red hair?
A: Honestly, I’m not sure – Marcus’ side of the family literally has ONE red head per family….so if it sticks with that, nope.
Q: What is different with this pregnancy compared to Blake’s?
A: LITERALLY, EVERYTHING. HA. I was sick with Blake a little bit, but nothing like this. Literally, everything hurts this time, the nausea is unreal and my acid reflux is a mess. I feel terrible complaining because well, I went through a ton for this little babe and totally understand being on the other end of wanting a babe so bad, but in all honesty, it’s been a rough pregnancy.
Q: Are you at risk for any complications with this one?
A: So far nope! So fingers crossed it stays good!
There were more questions, but I’m probably going to stop there at the risk of making this blog post like 10 years long. HA! I’ll post another update soon! 🙂
