Growing up, I remember my Mom and my Grandma canning. It was their thing and quite honestly – I am not great in the kitchen, so I wasn’t sure that would ever be “my thing”. But we did it last year, my Mom, my friend, Blake and I and it ended up being really fun and well, I’m all about learning new things. So this year – Blake and I kind of a made a little Mommy/Daughter date out of it and did a batch of marmalade together on our own.
She was so excited, literally for days she would ask “Are we making the jam today?!” I’m not sure it’s even about well “the jam” – though, I’ll tell you what, it’s freaking good and honestly, it’s kind of turned into a once/twice a year hobby that I really like. But it’s more so just about the time together, you know – making memories, keeping an old tradition alive and making new ones. We added to the tradition a bit more this year and made little baskets for a few friends, which included a jar of the jam we made – obviously 😉 and then some other goodies like store bought bread and cute utensils because mkay y’all one thing at a time in the kitchen. Bread making wasn’t going to be one of them today.
This year Ball® Home Canning is actually celebrating their 135th anniversary (DANG!) and they’re the same jars and canning system my Mom, Grandma and now I use. Well, their anniversary jars Ball® Aqua Vintage Jars (or just any of their jars) are great for not only canning but literally, all the other things. We love to use them for drinking glasses, little vases AND even soap containers – you can just buy a soap dispenser top for it! Plus, I love a fun little boho, vintage feel and I feel like mason jars totally give you that. Here’s a little peek at the basket we made for everyone! It was super easy and affordable.

Blake got to tie the ribbon on them and thought that was pretty cool + then we ran over to a few people’s houses and left them on the door with a little anonymous note! Which Blake also thought was cool, you know, basically ding dong ditching people….but with a gift. 😉 HA
