It’s been awhile since I have shared a hair tutorial over here on the blog and I am so excited! It’s not anything too crazy and the video is in a highlight on my Instagram, but it’s cute waves that work perfectly for long or short hair. Here I am going to talk more about how I get them using three Nexxus products that you can grab at Target, then explain the tutorial quickly below and tell you where you can see the actual video because that’s really going to show you how to do it.
First, the products – you’ll need:
- Nexxus Prep + Protect Leave in Spray: This will be your first step before styling or blow drying to lock in your hair’s natural proteins and put a layer of protectant on it. Spray from your roots to your tips. You can actually use this on wet or dry hair, but I prefer wet before I blow dry.
- Nexxus Smooth + Full Blow Dry Balm: After I use the Prep + Protect, I follow up with this Blow Dry balm. About a dime size amount goes a long way. I focus on the ends of my hair at first and then work it in the roots of my hair. Love this because it makes my hair smooth, gives it body and also adds another layer of heat protection.
- Nexxus Ultra Fine Hairspray: This is what I use after I style my hair -so at the very end. I love this hairspray because it’s an ultra-fine mist but holds my hair all day. And it smells incredible!
If you haven’t used Nexxus before, I highly recommend their products. I have used them off and on for years and y’all know I am a hair product snob, I only use good products and am picky. The best part about this line is it is available at Target now so you can pick it up when you’re out shopping there anyways, because I know you are there once a week minimum. I GET YOU MAMA. 😉
Okay now let’s talk about this style. Like I mentioned the tutorial is for loose, bouncy waves and I love doing my hair like this because it lasts for days and requires minimum touch ups. It’s also super cute on long and short hair.
You’re going to need a 1” curling iron for it. You’ll split your hair into two sections, start on the bottom and clip it in as normal and curl, but you’re only going to curl about half way, then twist it out, curl in the final portion, then twist it out again. The thing with achieving this style is taking SMALL sections. If you go for larger sections you’re going to get beach waves, but smaller will give you bouncy more defined waves.
I did a video where you can really see how to do this on Instagram, it’s saved in a highlight titled “Waves tutorial”. Because with this, you have to see it in action to fully understand it!
Here’s product links for y’all though so you can shop those:
